What We Build

Six ways water transforms a landscape.

From intimate backyard koi ponds to large-scale commercial fountains — every project is custom-designed and hand-built by Vince Williams.

01

Koi Ponds

A koi pond is one of the most technically demanding water features to build well. The fish's health depends on water chemistry, filtration, aeration, and planting all working together. Vince designs every element of the ecosystem — not just the shape of the water.

Each pond is custom-designed for your site: its drainage, its sun exposure, its natural stone character, and the scale of fish you intend to keep. The result is a pond that holds crystal-clear water and supports healthy koi for decades.

Discuss a Koi Pond

What's Included

  • → Custom design and site reading
  • → Excavation and liner installation
  • → Biological and mechanical filtration
  • → Natural stonework and edging
  • → Aquatic planting
  • → Start-up and water treatment

02

Natural Stream Design

A well-built stream doesn't look installed — it looks like it was always there. Vince designs meandering, naturalistic streams that follow the natural grade of your property, incorporating existing stone and planting into the flow.

Every stone in a CGS stream is placed to create the right sound and visual rhythm. Too fast and it sounds harsh. Too slow and it loses the music. The balance comes from experience — and from actually listening to the water as it runs.

Discuss a Stream

What's Included

  • Site grading and flow analysis
  • Stream bed excavation
  • Stone placement — by hand
  • Recirculating pump and plumbing
  • Bog and riparian planting
  • Integration with existing features

03

Pool Waterfalls

Pool waterfalls are the most transformative upgrade available to any pool owner in the NC Triad — and they're the project type CGS has built more of than any other. A dramatic rock waterfall integrates with your pool's existing plumbing and structure, adding sound, movement, and visual depth.

Vince works around your existing pool schedule and minimizes disruption. Most installations are complete within a week.

Add a Waterfall

What's Included

  • → Integration with existing pool plumbing
  • → Rock and boulder selection
  • → Hand-placed natural stonework
  • → Pump sizing and installation
  • → Optional lighting integration

04

Commercial Fountains

Large-scale water installations for corporate campuses, hospitality properties, and institutional clients. CGS has completed fountain systems for Duke University and High Point University — features that have run reliably for over a decade.

Commercial work demands engineering rigor alongside aesthetic sensibility. Vince coordinates with your facilities team, meets project specifications, and delivers on schedule — without the overhead of a national landscape contractor.

Discuss a Commercial Project

Project Types

  • Campus entrance features
  • Courtyard fountains
  • Hotel and hospitality water walls
  • Municipal and civic installations
  • Corporate campus features
  • Maintenance and restoration

05

Garden Lighting

A well-lit water feature at night looks nothing like the same feature in daylight — and that's the point. Low-voltage and LED lighting reveals the depth and movement of water in ways daylight can't, extending the value of your investment into every evening.

Vince designs lighting as part of the water feature from the beginning — not as an afterthought. Fixture placement, beam angle, and color temperature are all part of the original design intent.

Add Evening Ambience

What's Included

  • → Low-voltage LED fixture selection
  • → Submersible pond and stream lighting
  • → Landscape up-lighting and path lights
  • → Timer and smart control integration
  • → Wiring and transformer installation

06

Landscape Construction

Every water feature exists in a landscape — and that landscape needs to be built to the same standard. CGS handles the full hardscape around every water feature we install: retaining walls, natural stone patios, raised planting beds, and integrated garden structures.

Building hardscape and water features together (rather than from separate contractors) means every edge, every stone, every drainage decision is coordinated from the start. The result is a landscape that reads as a single vision.
